Giving Back
Alongside organising life changing experiences for our guests, Safari and Yoga is a conduit for funding wildlife conservation and community empowerment projects. Revenue from every retreat goes to grassroot projects that are already working well.
We listen to their needs and we offer support where it is most needed.

We focus on empowering women and young people. Our aim is to create safe spaces for people to ask for what they need and to receive support that helps them over the long term. We aim to give people access to more freedom with the path they want to choose in life.
We believe in meaningful, respectful exchange — where every retreat supports the land and the people who host us.

Our work with local schools, women's groups and community leaders helps to uplift youth and empower women.

Whether it’s sharing a yoga class, planting a tree, participating in a craft, singing together or simply showing up with curiosity and care — every guest becomes part of something lasting.

Ways you can give back:
-
Pack with purpose – School supplies and crafting materials are always welcome.
-
Join a community day – Participate in a local project.
-
Support local – Buy from artisans, small farmers and cooperatives.
-
Offer your gifts – If aligned, lead a class or workshop for the community.
-
Donate – We work with partners who give directly to local projects, so there are no charity administration fees.
We co-create retreats with conscious travellers who lead from the heart.
Community Initiatives
Each guest retreat place supports one or more of the initiatives listed below.

1. Support Local Schools
Helping children in their formative years can have a positive impact on their lives. We take crafting materials and offer our time, attention and a listening ear.

2. Eco-Education with Local Youth
We partner with Maasai community groups and NGOs working on environmental education.

3. Women’s Cooperative and Artisan Projects
We visit female artisans who create jewellery and do local crafts. We give them access to more selling opportunities in different safari camps.

4. Conservation Projects
Every retreat place gives directly to wildlife conservation, in both the National Parks and the private conservancies that we visit.

5. Health and Wellness Access
We partner with a local clinic or community health educator. We offer better access to sanitary products or, if aligned, we teach locals about the benefits of yoga.

6. Cultural Preservation and Language Exchange
Immersing in the Maasai culture is one of the highlights of our retreats. Various events encourage intergenerational storytelling and language sharing.

Aida's story
In her early 20s, Aida ran away from the pressures of early marriage and FGM in Uganda to start a new life as a photographer in Kenya.
She has since been on a beautiful journey of healing through art and nature. Her work has been featured with environmental organisations such as Future Rising, The World Around and Climate Generate.
In 2024 we invited Aida to capture images and videos for our November retreat. She made some incredible connections and felt moved by the daily practice of yoga. The following year, and with the financial support of some of our guests, she decided to undertake her own yoga teacher training and is now certified.
Aida still misses her family in Uganda and knows how scary it can be to make life work financially when far away from home, but she continues to trust in the path that is laid out for her. She believes in the power of yoga and spirituality to help us find our way back to our full selves.

Aida co-hosted our 2025 November retreat, supporting our lead yoga teacher Lisa Butler.
